Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 74
Illinois State Police are still looking for one of the drivers involved in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 74. At about 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 20, three vehicles collided in the westbound lane near the I-57 interchange, causing traffic to be reduced to one lane. The lane was reportedly reopened a couple of hours later, but police continue to investigate the collision.
According to Trooper Joseph Rush, one driver braked suddenly to turn around in the median crossover, causing two trailing vehicles to quickly brake. The driver that was turning around fled the scene and has yet to be found. One driver, a 16-year-old girl from Danville, was taken to the hospital, but her injuries were not life-threatening. The 16-year-old struck the back of another vehicle that was involved in the crash.
