Millions worth of property damage linked to recalled dehumidifiers in the US

A company based in China issued a recall on roughly 3.4 million units of potentially defective dehumidifiers because of complaints they could overheat and eventually catch fire, a report of cpsc.gov stated on November 2.

Reports revealed the recall was issued after the Midea dehumidifiers, which come in eight different sizes and 52 brand names. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Midea were notified of 38 incidents of fire, smoke or overheating dehumidifiers. There were no injuries linked to the affected products. Midea will either return money to consumers who purchased the faulty dehumidifiers or offer them a product replacement.
