Kia announces recall of Borrego SUV

Kia has now announced the recall of over 20,000 SUVs after it was discovered that the brake pedal mounts may break off.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the latest recall was posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website and involved 21,912 vehicles that were made between May 2008 and January 2009.

The brake pedal mount is not sturdy enough and if involved in an accident, it may break off and cause the vehicle to roll. If this did occur, the parking brake would need to be pulled in order for the car to stop. This manufacturing defect may cause a second impact. Kia dealers have told consumers to schedule an appointment in order to have the issue corrected.
