New data released by State Farm Insurance has revealed that Illinois is ranked second in the U.S. in terms of the number of dog attack incidents last year, NBC Chicago reported on May 14.
In Illinois alone, State Farm paid $8.9 million in compensation for 309 dog bite claims. Just last year, the firm paid $104 million for 3,700 dog attack incidents nationwide. Millions of Americans are bit by dogs every year, with children ages 5 to 9 at the highest risk of getting bit.
Dog training star Victoria Stilwell stated that responsible dog ownership and proper interaction with a dog is the key in preventing dog-related injuries.
