Family of St. Joseph woman files wrongful death suit

The family of a St. Joseph woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit after the death of their family member in an accident. The lawsuit was filed against the Jamaica school district and an electric company.

According to the lawsuit, the school and electric company were both negligent and this caused the death of the woman. The school was hosting a football jamboree when a transformer pole fell and on the woman and killed her.

She was the cheerleading coach at the school and her son played freshmen football. Both of the wooden poles were at least 50 years old and the transformer was deteriorating. The lawsuit is seeking $50,000 in damages.
