Bement man injured in truck accident in Champaign County

A man from Bement was injured after a truck accident occurred  in Champaign County.

According to Champaign County sheriff’s, the accident occurred Wednesday morning when a 22-year-old man’s truck somehow ended up int a ditch off of county roads 200 E and 1100 N.  A passing motorist  called law enforcement just before 9 a.m . to report a truck resting on its wheels in an 18 foot ditch.

The truck was beginning to fill with water when emergency crews arrived at the scene. The truck’s driver was drifting in and out of consciousness when emergency crews arrived. He was then transported to Carle Foundation hospital in order to be treated for non-life threatening injury. Officials are investigating the accident at this time.

One injured in Illinois semitrailer rollover accident

One person was injured after a rollover accident that occurred Monday on Illinois Route 1.

According to Illinois police, the accident occurred as the semitruck left the road on Route 1 and the driver tried to get the vehicle back on the road, but the driver overcorrected causing the vehicle to lose control.

The truck was carrying gasoline at the time, but did not spill onto the roadway. Crews came to the scene in order to transfer the gasoline to another semitruck. The driver of the truck was transported to a medical center in Kankakee in order to be treated and was also cited for improper lane usage and failure to wear a seatbelt as a result of the crash.

Woman killed after collision with utility vehicle

A 21-year-old woman was killed as a result of a collision with her car and a utility truck.

A preliminary investigation showed that the truck accident occurred on Illinois 18 when the car was traveling eastbound down the road and her car went off the right side of the road. The woman then overcorrected and drove in front of a westbound ComEd utility truck.

Accident reconstructionists are still currently investigating the accident at this time.  The woman was pronounced dead on the scene and the truck driver was transported to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Fog causes 17 car pileup on I-55

Officials have said that dense fog could be the cause for a 17-car pileup that occurred on Tuesday.

The chain-reaction car accident caused the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 to be closed for nearly two hours. Illinois State Police have said that another accident in Joliet caused one lane to be closed because a semi-truck struck the back of a pickup truck during the morning commute. An injury report on those involved have not been released at this time.

Semi-trailer accident on I-65 results in death of one man

A semi-trailer accident on Interstate 65 resulted in a fire that engulfed two vehicles and took the life of one man.

According to Indiana State Police, the accident occurred as a 23-year-old man from Chicago was unable to stop when traffic backed up on the Interstate. He then collided with another truck that was carrying petroleum products and paint.

This vehicle then caught fire and it spread to the other truck as well. The driver in the truck that initiated the accident, was killed as a result. The roads were closed for more than five hours while crews cleared the scene and cleaned the spilled fluids. Police have said that the other driver was not injured.

Two separate truck accidents result in multiple fatalities, injuries

Two separate truck accidents on Interstate 57 resulted in the death of three people and injured seven more.

Illinois State Police said that one accident occurred when a semi-truck driver was heading south down the roadway when he failed to notice that traffic was slowing. He then rear-ended a pickup truck and sent it into the median.

He then struck a minivan and another semitrailer before going off the side of the road. After he ran off the road, the truck fell to its side and caught fire. A 67-year-old passenger in the minivan was later pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital. The other accident also occurred on I-57 earlier in the day when two semi-trucks collided.

Woman killed in semi-truck accident on Route 50

A woman from Manteno was killed after a semi-truck accident occurred on Illinois Route 50.

According to officials, the accident occurred when the 86-year-old woman’s vehicle and a semi-truck collided near the 10800 block of Illinois Route 50.

The woman was taken to a local hospital and later transported to Loyola University Medical Center in order to be treated. She was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident. A portion of the highway was closed for hours while crews investigated and cleared the scene.

Motorcycle and truck accident claims life on U.S. 45

A man from Flora was killed after a motorcycle and truck accident occurred on U.S. 45.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident occurred as the pickup truck driver stopped at a stop sign and then began to cross over the interstate. He failed to see the motorcycle heading toward them and they collided.

The 31-year-old man operating the motorcycle and the 29-year-old passenger were transported to Carle Foundation Hospital. The man was later pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck was cited for failure to yield.

Danville man killed in I-74 accident

A man from Danville was killed in a truck accident on I-74 after his car collided with a truck Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police are still investigating the accident and do not know why the man’s vehicle crossed the center line while he was traveling east down the roadway.

The 43-year-old man’s car collided with a semi-trailer that was driven by a 39-year-old woman. The car came to a rest on the side of the road and the semi-trailer fell into a ditch and caught fire. The 43-year-old man died from multiple injuries.

Accident on Interstate 80 injures four people

A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 injured four people. According to Illinois State Police, the accident occurred near Atkinson as a box truck was traveling eastbound and a passenger car collided with it.

A semi-truck that was carrying a trailer was also driving east when he tried to avoid the accident, but swerved into the median and overturned the truck as a result. The fire department arrived at the scene and extricated two people from the car and two from the semi.

The four people were transported to the hospital to be treated and two of them have since been released. The road was closed for hours after the accident in order for crews to be certain that no hazardous material was spilled on the roadway from the tanker.
