Urbana police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run pedestrian crash that occurred when a car struck three college women while they were walking across the street in the campus area.
According to the Urbana police, the accident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. while the three women were walking on Ohio Street and Lincoln Avenue and the car struck them and then fled the scene.
Police were able to stop the car about 10 minutes later after matching a description of the car driving near Windsor Road. The driver was then transported back to the scene. Two women suffered arm injuries and one suffered a leg injury, but all injuries were said to be non-life threatening. The names of those involved have not yet been released.

A teacher at Manteno High School was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident while he was jogging on North Road 3000E.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene just before 7 a.m. and the coach was pronounced dead on the scene. The man was running southbound down the roadway when he was struck by a car near County Highway 9. According to Illinois police, the accident occurred as the 32-year-old woman was struck by a tractor-trailer. Emergency crews arrived to the scene in order to transport the woman to St. Louis University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

According to Grundy County officials, the accident occurred around 3 a.m. when the man was walking and was struck by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train.
