Woman fatally hit by truck in Illinois

A woman in Illinois recently died from her injuries after she was hit by an 18-wheeler truck, according to an article of the Beloit Daily News on August 18.

The fatal truck accident reportedly happened on Sunday, August 17 when the pedestrian, now identified as 29-year-old Tiffany Cole, was struck by a semi-truck on the southbound lane of Interstate 39. A news release provided by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office stated that the Rochelle resident was pronounced dead before 9:00 a.m. Authorities are still investigating the fatal accident.

Urbana police find driver after fleeing scene in hit-and-run crash

Urbana police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run pedestrian crash that occurred when a car struck three college women while they were walking across the street in the campus area.

According to the Urbana police, the accident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. while the three women were walking on Ohio Street and Lincoln Avenue and the car struck them and then fled the scene.

Police were able to stop the car about 10 minutes later after matching a description of the car driving near Windsor Road. The driver was then transported back to the scene. Two women suffered arm injuries and one suffered a leg injury, but all injuries were said to be non-life threatening. The names of those involved have not yet been released.

Manteno High School coach struck and killed in accident

A teacher at Manteno High School was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident while he was jogging on North Road 3000E.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene just before 7 a.m. and the coach was pronounced dead on the scene. The man was running southbound down the roadway when he was struck by a car near County Highway 9. Police ordered a reconstruction team to be sent to the scene, but the investigation is still currently pending. An autopsy has been ordered at this time.

Granite City man killed in accident while crossing the street

A Granite City man was killed after a pedestrian accident occurred while crossing Chain of Rocks Road.

According to Illinois police, the accident occurred as the 32-year-old woman was struck by a tractor-trailer. Emergency crews arrived to the scene in order to transport the woman to St. Louis University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The death was considered an accident and no charges are expected to be filed because the pedestrian was not walking on a crosswalk. The truck driver remained at the scene to help with the investigation.

Pedestrian killed after struck by train

A 27-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian-train accident after he was struck in the early morning while walking on the train tracks.

According to Grundy County officials, the accident occurred around 3 a.m. when the man was walking and was struck by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train.

It is unknown why the man was walking on the train tracks at the time of the accident. Officials with BNSF Railway Co. and Coal City police are investigating at this time.

Police investigate pedestrian accident that injured midd

The Champaign police department is currently investigating an accident that involved a 7th-grade pedestrian and a vehicle.

According to officials, the accident occurred at 3:03 p.m. on Monday when the student entered the intersection of Spring Avenue and Prairie Street around a stopped middle school bus and was struck by a Jeep Cherokee. Police are still looking into the details of the accident, but the boy was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
