A 22-year-old man was charged with a DUI after he was involved in an accident on Illinois Route 23 that injured five people.
According to Urbana police, that man was driving on Lincoln when he attempted to turn left onto Fairbanks because he thought he had the protected green arrow.
He was charged with a DUI and failure to yield at a left turn. Five people were taken to the hospital as a result of the accident, but they have all been treated and released. He is ordered to be in court on July 29. The arrest occurred on the 22-year-old’s birthday.

A man from East Peoria has been indicted for his involvement in a drunken driving accident in July that injured one person.
According to the police report, the man was speeding on his motorcycle going 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. He then turned and crossed the center line and sped away as police tried to stop him. The chase then continued for quite some time reaching speeds of 115 mph. The man then failed to negotiate a curve at the speed he was traveling and he crashed into a cornfield.
The bike then had sparks and flames coming from it and a female passenger on bike suffered third degree burns. The man is charged with failure to stop at an accident involving injury, two attempts of fleeing from police, speeding over 40 mph over the speed limit and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

After the death of a Danville man in a car accident, the driver of the vehicle was cited with driving under the influence.
The 46-year-old man was also cited with improper lane usage and no insurance. According to officials, the man was driving on County Road 2400 when he collided head-on with a Chevrolet Blazer driven by a 29-year-old man.
The 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 46-year-old was airlifted to the hospital in fair condition and the passenger,11, in his vehicle was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released. The accident is still being investigated.
