On Jan. 20, a fatal accident caused the closure of Illinois 3 for several hours.

A 23 year old Fosterburg man was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a car crashed through his home and landed on him while he was sitting on his couch. Authorities say the incident occurred when a 52 year old man lost control of his vehicle and struck several items on the side of the road before striking an embankment which sent his car flying into the home.
