Sunland Inc. recall expands to include other nut spreads

Last week, Sunland Inc., announced the recall of Trader Joe’s Valencia Creamy Peanut Butter after it was discovered that the nut spread was possibly contaminated with salmonella. This week, the recall expanded to include other nut spreads as well as other grocery stores.

The New Mexico-based manufacturer expanded the recall to include almond butter, cashew butter, tahini, and peanuts when it was determined that the products were made on the same contaminated equipment as the Trader Joe’s nut spread.

Several other stores are now pulling Sunland’s products from their shelves. Nearly 35 people in 19 different states have  become sick as a result of the food-borne illness.

Consumers expect that the food they purchase from stores is manufactured at the highest quality. If you or a loved one has become ill after consuming a defective food product, contact a Danville food product lawyer of Spiros Law, P.C., in order to discuss your legal options.
