Proposed government bill aims to eliminate bus and truck rollover accidents

A new bill was proposed by the government this week in order to help eliminate rollover accidents from occurring in trucks and buses.

According to officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the bill proposes that manufacturers must add an electronic braking system in buses, trucks and motor coaches.

The safety system will be able to sense if a driver is losing control and the brakes on the vehicle in order to keep it steady and avoid a rollover. This will help drivers maintain control of the vehicle even if they are on slick or dangerous roads.

Rollover accidents are the most fatal type of car crash and federal authorities have estimated that the new safety settings will help to eliminate 2,329 accidents and prevent up to 60 fatalities a year.
