Two injured after Champaign car accident

Two people were injured as a result of a car accident on South Staley Road in Champaign.

According to a local news source, the accident occurred as an 86-year-old man was backing out of his private driveway and he failed to see an oncoming truck. The 51-year-old truck driver attempted to swerve out of the way of the car, but the 86-year-old still collided into him.

The collision caused the truck to be pushed into oncoming traffic where he was struck by a northbound car. The 86-year-old driver and 51-year-old driver were transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in order to be treated. The driver of the third vehicle was uninjured.
