School bus carrying children involved in accident

A school bus that was carrying eight children was involved in an accident outside of Urbana Middle School.

According to police, the accident was between a school bus, a car and a minivan. It began as the school bus driver attempted to pass a car, but struck and pushed it forward. The bus then went around the car and struck a minivan two or three times.

When police arrived at the scene, the school bus driver had no explanation for what caused the accident. The driver of the first car was sent to the hospital where he was treated and released, but no children were injured. The school bus driver was charged with failure to reduce speed in order to avoid an accident.
