Kimberly-Clark Corp. recalls 1,400 boxes of Kotex tampons

The Kimberly-Clark Corp. has stated that Kotex tampons have been recalled due to bacteria contamination that could cause a serious infection.

The recalled product includes the Kotex Natural Balance Security Unscented Tampons Regular Absorbency brand with the SKU number of 15063 and 15068. Officials have said that there has not been any injury or illness reports from the tampons and nearly 98 percent of the boxes have been recovered.

The tampons were distributed to Wal-Mart stores in Nebraska, New Mexico, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. They were also shipped to Fry’s stores in Arizona and Smith’s stores in Arizona and Utah. The corporation has said that no other products are subject to recall at this time.

Nearly 72,000 pounds of Bumble Bee chicken salad recalled

An Illinois food manufacturing company, the Suter Company, has announced the recall of nearly 72,000 pounds of Bumble Bee chicken salad. The recall comes after costumers complained of hard plastic pieces in their food.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service, the company recalled the “Bumble Bee Chicken Salad with Crackers” and the “Bumble Bee Lunch on the Run Chicken Salad Complete Lunch Kit,” which were both produced between August 14 and August 28, 2010 and were distributed to retail stores nationwide. The product has a low health risk according to the USDA, but the company is asking customers to return the product.

Illinois mother files suit over Similac formula recall

An Illinois mother has filed a lawsuit and is seeking class action status over a the recall of millions of containers of Similac baby formula after beetle larvae was found and reported by two people.

In the lawsuit, the mother states that the maker of the baby formula, Abbott Laboratories Inc., made her child and many other children sick by not “exerting quality control measures to ensure that the formulas were safe for consumption.”

Insects and larvae were found at the plant in Sturgis, Ill. and the company recalled the products on Sept. 22. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has said that the insects may give the babies stomach aches, but that no long term damage would occur.

Over 8,000 baby walkers recalled

Suntech Enterprises have recalled almost 8,400 baby walkers after finding out that they can fit down stairs. No serious injuries have yet been reported but the recall comes as a preventative measure.

The baby walkers were sold in small stores in California, Illinois, New York and Texas from January 2007 to December 2009. Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the walkers and to bring them back to the store they were purchased at for a refund.

The walkers were sold in pink, green, blue and white for anywhere between $25 and $30.
